  1. Over-the-counter facial scrubs can help accelerate the removal of dead skin clusters which have been partially exfoliated by a salicylic acid peel. Facial scrubs are often gentle and should not irritate your skin, though try to avoid those that heat up on contact.
  2. Cleansing daily with Coral KAVI and Toner, and exfoliating once per week with Salicylic Acid 8, while an effective acne prevention plan for many, may need to be adjusted to better address varying skin conditions. If exfoliation once per week with Salicylic Acid 8 does not yield any post-peel inflammation or irritation, increasing application frequency to twice per week, 45-60 seconds per application, would be ok. Should the rate of new infection subside from semiweekly exfoliation with Salicylic Acid 8, there wouldn't be a need to move up to Salicylic Acid 15. After two months of semiweekly application, reduce frequency to once per week and monitor your skin. If the rate of new infection does not increase, return to weekly application intervals for two additional months, followed by a two-to-four week hiatus before recommencing another two-month exfoliation cycle at once per week.
  3. We make a number of anti-aging products specifically designed for treating wrinkles. KAVI Glycolic Acid peels can be used once per week on the forehead and around the lip region. KAVI Glycolic Acid moisturizing serums can be used daily to complement weekly exfoliation. For the eye region, Complex A can be used daily to treat wrinkles as well as dark circles, puffiness, and spider veins. Our Anti-Aging Systems provide complete kits (from cleanser to moisturizer) in graduated strengths for treating wrinkles and other symptoms of premature aging. They may be found at http://www.kaviskin.com/search.php?mode=se...n&by_sku=on.
  4. We used to carry such a kit, however it has been superseded by Anti-Aging System I for Normal/Dry Skin, an excellent skin hydration system that will help slow the onset of premature aging. If you are interested in moisturization only, then the following products can make up the appropriate skin care regimen: 1. Glycolic Cleanser 10 (cleanse once or twice per day) 2. Hyaluronic Acid 95 and the Glycolipidic Moisturizer (two-step application, apply as needed) 3. SPF30 (apply as needed)
  5. To exfoliate heavily-layered dead skin buildup on the lower legs, start with Glycolic Acid 40 (or Glycolic Acid 50 on less sensitive skin). Remember to spot test skin before first use and do not exceed a 2 minute application interval on the first peel.
  6. Volcanic sulfur indicates the source of the sulfur used to prepare a product, while the terms "precipitated sulfur" and "colloidal sulfur" indicate the method of preparation, sourced from volcanic rock or other natural sources. Both precipitated and colloidal preparations yield pharmaceutical-grade sulfur for use in anti-acne topical products, from soaps to creams. Precipitated sulfur tends to yield larger sulfur molecules which absorb at a slow rate into pores. For time-delay products like creams and lotions, precipitated sulfur is a better choice. For flash-contact products, like soaps, a more effective choice would be colloidal sulfur, whose molecularly smaller sulfur clusters can absorb into pores more efficiently before the soap is rinsed off. To make our Complex P spot treatment more effective, we've chosen colloidal sulfur to deliver a maximum burst of medication in a short window of time to neutralize acne bacteria and accelerate pore recovery. The Organic Sulfur Suspension, designed to be applied over a large expanse of acne-prone skin, uses precipitated sulfur to provide a layer of anti-bacterial protection to the skin over a 6 to 8 hour window.
  7. Alternating application on a weekly basis between a glycolic acid mask and a salicylic acid mask is the best way to safely attain the benefits of both peels. For example, you can choose to apply glycolic acid once on every odd week and salicylic acid once on every even week. KAVI does not sell any applicators at this time, however fan brushes are available at most beauty supply stores.

    Scar removal

KAVI Glycolic Acid Unbuffered would be the best solution for acute scarring. These products, found in the KAVI Physician Portal, may be sold to physicians only. The strongest product available to non-medical professionals is KAVI Glycolic Acid 60, however this product’s pH is best suited for the lifting of superficial scarring and hyperpigmentation. We would advise you to consult with your dermatologist, who may elect to use unbuffered glycolic acid to remove the indicated scarring.
  9. KAVI Anti-Aging Systems are available for two skin groups: normal or dry skin, and oily or combination skin. Each skin group comprises four systems, each with increasingly stronger repair and maintenance components. Choosing the right system should be determined by your skin's sensitivity and your treatment goals. Example 1: If you have sensitive, dry skin, would like to lift fine lines, and help prevent future wrinkle formation, choose Anti-Aging System I for Normal or Dry Skin. Example 2: If you have normal skin, would like to lift lightly-colored age spots, and clear occasional blackheads, choose Anti-Aging System II for Normal or Dry Skin. Example 3: If you have combination skin, would like to lift lightly-formed wrinkles, smoothen overall skin texture, and would like to try glycolic acid exfoliation, choose Anti-Aging System III for Oily or Combination Skin. Example 4: If you have oily skin, would like to lift wrinkles and age spots, reduce uneven pore diameter, and have some experience with glycolic acid exfoliation, choose Anti-Aging System IV for Oily or Combination Skin. The differences between various KAVI products can be observed by comparing corresponding product specifications on the KAVI website.
  10. The KAVI Anti-Acne Systems are certainly a good place to start. System I is primarily for pore maintenance, and Systems II through IV are for the treatment of acne-prone skin. They are numbered by strength, so be careful to not select a system that is too strong for you. If you also are interested in addressing fine lines, Enhanced Retinol 0.30% (in System II) is very good for clearing pores and treating the effects of premature aging (including age spots, fine lines, and uneven texture). DermaWash is made with sulfur and would be the best liquid cleanser to choose for oily or acne-prone skin.
  11. Because skin around the eyes is thinner and more sensitive, be sure to select products that have been designed specifically for that region. KAVI Complex A, made exclusively for skin around the eyes, is a moisturizing serum that will reduce wrinkes and fine lines, strengthen connective tissue, and improve blood hemodynamics and microcirculation. Although Complex A will be suitable for most anti-aging treatment goals, the strongest product to consider for the eye region would be KAVI Complex C. Made with palmitoyl tripeptide 3, glycosaminoglycans, acetyl hexapeptide-3, and hyaluronic acid, its active ingredients help hydrate your skin, prevent future wrinkle formation, and lift existing lines. For additional hydration, you may wish to consider KAVI Hyaluronic Acid 95 as a topical supplement to either Complex A or C.
  12. There are three repair products to consider when building an effective anti-wrinkle skin care regimen, and the choice depends on skin sensitivity and other treatment goals. Listed from gentlest to strongest, these products are Complex C, Enhanced Retinol 0.30%, and the KAVI Glycolic Acid skin exfoliation masks. Depending on the stage of their development, age spots may require a stronger product (Glycolic Acid 30 or greater). Choosing a repair product along with a maintenance serum and moisturizer would provide the right set of products for a well-rounded anti-wrinkle treatment plan. KAVI Anti-Aging Systems take a similar approach, complementing a repair product with an appropriate cleanser, maintenance serum, and moisturizer. KAVI Anti-Aging Systems are grouped by skin type and may be found at http://www.kaviskin.com/search.php?mode=se...n&by_sku=on.
  13. You can use cotton balls, but be certain to use sterile cotton to avoid complications during administration. The waffle texture of gauze (when used in motion on the skin) can help retail preparations of glycolic acid loosen dead skin clusters and accelerate the exfoliation process. Alternatively, gauze strips may be moistened with glycolic acid before being laid flat on the skin. This approach prevents the liquid from running and ensures even coverage. Sterile gauze may be purchased at your local pharmacy.
  14. Aqua KAVI and DermaWash have the same active ingredient, 1% colloidal sulfur (equivalent to 5% precipitated sulfur). DermaWash's cleansing component, however, is less drying than Aqua KAVI's, making DermaWash more suitable for dry skin. Because both products are non-comedogenic, pH-balancing, and contain the same sulfur formulation, they are equally effective in the treatment of acne, rosacea, and skin conditions that can be triggered by pH imbalance (e.g., eczema and psoriasis).
  15. It would be optimal to let dead skin flake off naturally, however if this poses an inconvenience, a facial scrub can help accelerate the exfoliation process with minimal irritation to the skin.

    Retinol

Enhanced Retinol 0.30% can be used to treat fine lines, variable pigmentation (e.g., age spots, sun spots), and uneven texture. For maximum efficacy, this serum should be applied directly onto the skin. Use of other topicals may form a surface barrier that could significantly reduce the absorption rate of Retinol. Treating your skin exclusively with Enhanced Retinol 0.30% for 6 to 8 weeks will allow you to more accurately measure its benefits. While we cannot advise you on the use of non-KAVI products, should you elect to resume use of the Janson-Beckett serum, monitor for any supplementary improvements or adverse reactions to determine whether concurrent use is appropriate for your skin.
  17. We use methylisothiazolinone as a preservative in some of our products, however the concentration in solution is only 6 micromoles, enough to prevent bacteria and fungi from growing but too low to be considered cytotoxic.
  18. There are several products available to you that can help significantly improve the overall appearance of your skin. The following are two skin care regimens that we would recommend, listed in order of strength: Option 1 Cleanse with Coral KAVI, twice per day. Renew with KAVI Toner, once per evening. Repair with KAVI Enhanced Retinol 0.30%, once or twice per day. Option 2 Cleanse with Coral KAVI, twice per day. Renew with KAVI Toner, once per evening. Repair with KAVI Enhanced Retinol 0.30%, once or twice per day. Exfoliate with KAVI Salicylic Acid 8 or 15, once per week. Product Indications (filtered for your skin conditions) Coral KAVI - excess oil, clogged pores (blackheads, whiteheads). KAVI Toner - clogged pores (blackheads), rosacea. KAVI Enhanced Retinol 0.30% - excess oil, clogged pores (blackheads, whiteheads), uneven texture and tone. KAVI Salicylic Acid 8 or 15 - excess oil, clogged pores (blackheads, whiteheads), uneven texture (dead skin buildup), large pores.
  19. KAVI Complex A is designed specifically for skin around the eye region. Unique peptide chains in Complex A inhibit the enzymes that break down elastin and collagen, while specialized moisturizing sugars and antioxidants work not only to lift wrinkles, but also reduce dark circles and puffiness common to skin near the eyes. Complex A is very effective but gentle enough for sensitive skin. For more intensive treatment, Complex C would be the next option to consider. Complex C is made with stronger actives to treat wrinkles, including Palmitoyl Tripeptide 3, a collagen synthesis booster that slows the breakdown of the collagen-elastin matrix. Complex C also contains Argireline, a non-toxic alternative to Botox that reduces the intensity of superficial muscle contractions. Like Complex A, Complex C contains powerful moisturizing actives to help prevent dehydration of the skin. While we don't advise anything stronger than Complex C for use around the eyes, your dermatologist may recommend KAVI Glycolic Serum 15/30 or KAVI Enhanced Retinol 0.30%. Please consult with your physician before considering using these products near your eyes or any other region where skin is thin or delicate.

Yes, Coral KAVI is more effective than using KAVI Toner alone, but it isn't as effective as using Coral KAVI with the KAVI Toner. Here is a list of KAVI product combinations and their respective indications for use (filtered for comedolytic applications): KAVI Toner only: occasional blackheads, whiteheads; ideal for sensitive skin Coral KAVI only: acne breakouts, blackheads, whiteheads Coral KAVI + Toner: acne breakouts, persistent blackheads, whiteheads KAVI Salicylic Acid 8 + Toner: chronic comedone formation (blackheads, whiteheads) Salicylic Acid 8 + Coral KAVI + Toner: chronic acne infection, chronic comedone formation (blackheads, whiteheads) The best approach would be to try Coral KAVI first by itself. If you are satisfied with the results, there isn't a need to also include KAVI Toner in your skin care regimen. If you find that blackheads are still forming, then the next step would be to add KAVI Toner to your daily routine.

For cases of mild acne on oily or combination skin, using Coral KAVI alone may be all you need. Replacing your existing soap with Coral KAVI can provide the following benefits: (1) Cleanse with pore-friendly plant extracts (palm oil) instead of comedogenic animal byproducts (tallow); (2) Clear clogged pores and help eliminate acne infections within; (3) Eliminate acne bacteria on the surface of the skin to help prevent future acne infections; (4) Lightly exfoliate dead skin buildup and wash away excess sebum to help prevent future comedone formation; (5) Balance the skin's pH to fortify its natural defenses against bacteria. If you find that Coral KAVI works well for acne but is not enough to keep blackheads away, including KAVI Toner as a final-stage cleanser once per evening will provide additional support in keeping pores clear.
  22. Glycolic acid is a member of the alpha hydroxy family of acids and the most common alpha hydroxy used in dermatological applications. Today, the terms 'alpha hydroxy acid' and 'glycolic acid' are used interchangeably by skin care professionals. Similarly, beta hydroxy acid has become an accepted name in skin care for the most popular acid in its group, salicylic acid. KAVI Alpha Hydroxy / Glycolic Acid peels are available for purchase at http://www.kaviskin.com/home.php?cat=3.
  23. Our Anti-Aging or Anti-Acne Systems pages can provide some guidance on the best application sequence for KAVI products. For the referenced products above, here is one regimen to try (listed in recommended sequence of application; for serums, allow approximately 3 minutes for absorption): Cleanse - Coral KAVI Usage interval and special instructions: once or twice per day to neutralize acne, reduce excess oil, and mildly exfoliate dead skin buildup. If skin becomes dry, reduce application to once per day or even once every other day. When not cleansing with Coral KAVI, use a mild, pH-balancing cleanser. Exfoliate - Salicylic Acid Peel Usage interval and special instructions: once per week for 6 to 8 weeks, followed by a 4-week break. Salicylic acid peels neutralize acne, provide more intensive exfoliation, and reduce pore diameter. Renew - Premium Pore Cleanser / Toner Usage interval and special instructions: once per night as a final-stage cleanser to keep pores clear and help prevent comedone formation (e.g., blackheads). Repair - Enhanced Retinol 0.30% Usage interval and special instructions: once or twice per day to maintain clear pores, lift uneven pigmentation, and smooth fine lines. This product, when used in conjunction with Coral KAVI, can dry the skin. Reduce frequency if skin becomes dry. Do not use on days when exfoliating with KAVI Salicylic Acid peels. Repair - Complex P Usage interval and special instructions: once or twice per day to spot-treat acne infections rapidly. Complex P is a strong antiseborrheic and should be used sparingly. Do not use on days when exfoliating with KAVI Salicylic Acid peels. Repair - Organic Sulfur Suspension Usage interval and special instructions: once per day on skin suffering from severe acne (nodules or cysts). The Organic Sulfur Suspension should not be used on facial skin that is also being treated with other antiseborrheics. This product may be used on the chest or back in conjunction with Coral KAVI or KAVI Salicylic Acid peels. If skin becomes dry, reduce application frequency accordingly. Do not use on days when exfoliating with KAVI Salicylic Acid peels. Moisturize - Hyaluronic Acid 75 Usage interval and special instructions: two to three times per day to hydrate skin. For added protection, add a layer of the KAVI Glycolipidic Moisturizer. Protect - SPF30 Usage interval and special instructions: whenever you expect any exfoliated skin to come into contact with the sun. SPF30 is also an effective moisturizer.
  24. Of the KAVI sulfur-based products which could be classified as lotions, Complex P will be more helpful against blackheads than the Organic Sulfur Suspension. One of Complex P's active ingredients is benzoyl peroxide, an anti-bacterial agent which is very effective in the treatment of blackheads. Other solutions for treating blackheads are KAVI Enhanced Retinol 0.30% or products with salicylic acid (e.g., Coral KAVI, KAVI Toner, or KAVI Salicylic Acid masks).
  25. Since tinea versicolor is a fungus, you may find that an anti-fungal cleanser will be enough to keep its growth under control. KAVI makes three anti-fungal cleansers: DermaWash, Aqua KAVI, and Coral KAVI. Coral KAVI contains 3% salicylic acid and 2% colloidal sulfur, both anti-fungal actives. KAVI DermaWash and Aqua KAVI each contain 1% colloidal sulfur. Coral KAVI is used primarily to treat acne, though its ingredients are effective in the treatment of many skin conditions. Please note that Coral KAVI is an antiseborrheic and can be used on dry skin only with appropriate moisturization. All three cleansers will help balance the skin’s pH which itself will be restrictive to the fungus. Weekly application of KAVI Salicylic Acid 15 or 25 can complement use of our cleansers to control fungal growths. For more severe cases of tinea versicolor, you are advised to consult with a specialist who can prescribe more intensive treatment.
