KAVI Support Posted May 8, 2008 Report Share Posted May 8, 2008 A sterile cotton ball or sterile gauze (even better) would be a fine implement for transferring salicylic acid to the target area. You only need one to two layers of salicylic acid on the skin. The alcohol base will cool the skin and help reduce the intensity of the salicylic acid. Once the alcohol has evaporated, the target area will begin to heat up as salicylic acid (still on the epidermis) continues to keratolyze dead skin and dissolve comedones inside pores.
