Question about cystic acne treatment
Guest posted a topic in AcneI recently found out about your products on the website of a dermatologist, and I'm interested in purchasing, but I thought I'd check to see what products might be a good fit. I have a history of cystic acne that had been under control since October. My regimen during that time consisted of 4% benzoyl peroxide wash am and pm, a combination of tretinoin, clindamycin, and azelaic acid at night, and generous moisturizing adjusted for weather and overall humidity level. This was working well, and any small spots resolved quickly with an alcohol-based 2% salicylic acid treatment. Unfortunately, my cystic acne recently flared in mid June with one painful inflamed cyst about the size of a dime/nickel on my cheek, one large pustule, and three smaller papules. So overall, not a large breakout except for the large cyst. I'm not sure why it flared, but I think it might be a combination of switching to benzoyl peroxide wash only once a day and not moisturizing enough. I have received two intra-lesional cortisone injections from my dermatologist and was prescribed bactrim for the first time, which is helping to reduce the pain and swelling, but the cyst hasn't resolved yet. I was thinking of incorporating sulfur into my routine since I haven't used it much. I would like to continue to use 4% benzoyl peroxide was once a day as well as a combination cream of .017% tretinoin, 4% azelaic acid, and .25% zinc pyrithione at night. Would washing with the aqua kavi in the evening be too much? Also, is there a spot treatment that would help my cyst? I'm also open to other suggestions but am reluctant to completely upend my routine from the get-go. Please let me know what you think when you have a chance, and thank you!
Skin Care Help
Guest posted a topic in AcnePlease Help! I am so frustrated by the state of my skin and don't want to waste any more money on products that don't work (or the wrong ones within a given line) You have so many great products I'm not even sure where to start. The 3 issues I want to address are: 1. Adult Acne (very embarassing at 32) 2. Uneven skin tone & dark spots 3. Anti-aging & prevention My skin is combination and slightly sensitive. I just want it to be clear more then anything else. Any advice or suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thank you Alyssa
Need advice on what I should doHello! I am interested in using KAVI products, especially the acne system for oily or combination skin. I have tried many products and as of late it has been getting worse. I have moderate acne and I do break out a lot. There isn't a day where I don't have at least one pimple. My skin gets oily but it also gets dry as well. So would the acne system III work for me or would you advise a different one. Also, my skin is sensitive and I'm worried if the Coral Kavi would dry out my skin too much even though I produce a lot of oil throughout the day. I was just wondering what you would advise I should do and the types of products that could work for me. Thanks!
Stubborn CystsI have been using Coral Kavi (2x day), Salicylic 8% as a weekly mask, and the Organic Sulfur Suspension (2x day) for 9 days. Before starting Kavi, my forehead was clear, and so was my left cheek except for a couple of teeny tiny bumps beneath the skin. My right cheek is what prompted me to try Kavi; I had several larger pimples beneath the skin in the area between my cheekbone and chin. This acne got more noticeable in the winter, although I probably had the tiny bumps beneath my skin for quite some time. The system made my face dry and flaky. Although the small bumps on my left cheek are gone, I have had 2 pimples! I’ve since had three pimples on my forehead! As for the acne on my right cheek, the pimples all came up to the surface. Some are drying out, but some of the acne is still very active. The acne is very pink/red, and despite the sulfur, it will not dry out and go away. I expected the system to dry out the acne before any of it had a chance to surface. I am freaking out! I usually have very oily, sensitive, but cystic acne free skin. My finals really stressed me out, and now the aftermath is all over my face. What do you recommend I do to get rid of this stubborn acne? ** Prior to using Kavi, washing my face with Johnson & Johnson baby soap, and spot treating with Preparation H, and moisturizing with Cetaphil Oil Control SPF 30 used to keep my face clear (although it was always very oily). **I vehemently avoid soy, dairy, nuts, and soda as I find they make me breakout.
